Blackboard and Internet Explorer

Blackboard is currently not compatible with Internet Explorer. If you try to access Blackboard through Internet Explorer you will be able to pull the website up, but tests malfunction and assignments and lecture materials are inaccessible by students. Instead of using Internet Explorer you should use Mozilla Firefox or Safari when working on your online class. Click on the link below to download and install Mozilla Firefox for free.

Time Management

Effectively managing time is a major issue for many online students. If you are the type of student who waits until the last minute to prepare assignments or read textbooks for class, you may find yourself having trouble in an online environment. The best action to take, when enrolled in an online class, is to make out a schedule for yourself and post it somewhere you will see it (like your front door, or near your computer). And most importantly, stick with it!

To make a schedule for yourself, first check the calendar that is part of all online classes to find out when your assignments are due. Then make a list of them for yourself or mark them on your calendar. Be sure to give yourself enough time to do all of the reading and complete your assignments each week. This may mean you work on your online class several nights a week, or even every day. Whatever you do, do not let assignments wait until the last minute, because you never know when a technical or personal problem will pop up and prevent you from completing your work on time.

If you do run into a problem that keeps you from doing your work let your instructor know immediately.  The only way your instructor can help you is if you keep in touch with them.  Remember, instructors are more willing to work with you if you simply and politely explain the situation beforehand, instead of giving excuses about why you are failing afterwards.

Following these simple time management tips can make a world of difference in an online class.  Good luck!
