CODE OF CONDUCT
NWCC Learning Resource Centers are committed to providing an educational environment that is conducive to learning for all students. Students play a critical role in creating this environment in which learning can take place.
Respect the rights of others while using library resources. The library is a place for quiet study and research. Any behavior that disrupts other people is not appropriate library behavior. Students cannot infringe on others' rights. All libraries are designated cell phone free zones. Set cell phones to vibrate while in the library. Answer calls outside the library or while walking out.
Students must present a current student ID to use library computers. Computers are to be used for school-related work and will be monitored when in demand. Anyone who misuses library computers will be asked to leave the facility. Web sites that are deemed inappropriate might lead to expulsion.
No food, drink or tobacco products are allowed in the library.
Appropriate behavior in the library is expected of all students. Students must conform to the Code of Student Conduct as described in the Student Guide. The library staff has the right to ask students to conform to the above guidelines. The library staff has the right to request a student’s ID card. The library staff has the right to ask a student to leave the library if he or she does not choose to follow these guidelines. Students may be referred to the Student Affairs Office for serious infractions.
QUIET POLICY
A Quiet Policy is in place throughout all the library buildings of Northwest. The purpose is to of provide suitable environments for individual and group study, research, and public service activities. Cooperation with this policy acknowledges and supports the need of others for quiet.
A certain amount of noise can be expected at all public service desks where library staff are helping library users. In other areas, staff and library users are expected to minimize their noise so as not to disturb others who may be studying nearby. Conversations should be kept to a minimum. If talking is necessary, do it quietly.
Cell phones shall be set to vibrate and answered outside. Librarians monitor headphone noise and users will be asked to turn down the sound if leaks occur.
Do not confront another library patron if there is a problem. Draw a librarian's attention and they will handle the situation.
Those who fail to comply with the quiet policy may be asked to leave the library.
